West and North clash tonight at the Jubilee Oval at 5.45pm in the Under 18s and what a cracker of a game it should be.
Both sides were ultra impressive last week with North 52-point winners over Central and West by a big margin over South.
North have Josh Sheargold in great form whilst Garry Tuthill plays a solid game off half back every week. Throw in Keenan Ellis and Sam Sutcliffe and coach Freddy Borlace has plenty of good defenders to make things difficult for the West team.
Ethan Thomas was best in B grade last Saturday while Junior Ethan Slater was best in the 15s with four goals and is a great club person who will do any job asked of him.
The centre square will be very important with Chad Spangler rucking most of the night but up against two good West lads in Robbie Warhurst and Carter Ferguson. Another great midfield clash will be North's Captain Zac Borlace up against West's Heath Harris.
West appear to have the advantage at ground level with Rylie McInnes a treat to watch as he ducks and weaves around the opposition, and Liam King is also finding plenty of the footy.
Add the stars of last week in Cohen Smith (4 goals), Judd Carpenter (4) and Colin O'Donnell (3) and North are going to need every player to do a job.
West also have some great juniors coming through in Austin Ferguson, Luke Jones, Harrison Dally and Josh O'Brien. Jayden White is slowly recovering from a back strain and could be the Robins' trump card tonight.
North will be relying on the likes of Lachlan Tiziani and Trent Barraclough to kick a winning score. These high profile lads will be tested tonight and it will be interesting to see how they handle the spotlight and expectation.
The game will be fast, freeflowing and highly skillful but for me the Robins look the goods and will win by 24 points.
The late game at 7.30pm pits the winless MAGPIES up against the SOUTH lads.
Central have been honest in both losses and will be keen to get a chance to sing the song tonight and play some attractive football.
Louis Gilby starred in B grade Saturday whilst Jason Masclet and Mason Hunt had the weekend off dancing so will be nice and fresh for tonight.
Central coaches Matt Sowden and Jarred Paul have a great chance to put their juniors into the middle at some stage tonight and fast track their development. Players like Brady Dwyer and Tanner Lloyd look capable and might just need the opportunity to play the key roles.
South will again he sweating on all the lads turning up for a game and hopefully the last seven days has seen a few more lads sign on.
Out this week is one of the SFC most reliable lads in Mason Squire with a rib injury, but he will be back!
Mitchell Henderson had a breakout game in A grade Saturday kicking 5 goals against some very good opposition, and his confidence should be at an all time high.
Last week Jaimee Bates, Kurt Rolton, Brock Chapman and Jorden Stuart were all in the best players and again this week they will need to all be on song. One player who can lift is Rob Naudi who has talent and speed and tonight might be the night for him to get back to playing the footy of a year or two ago.
Central will win but the margin will be nothing like last week.
The canteen will be a makeshift one this week in front of the bar with the Shinglebacks running a barbecue.
