Locals were spoilt for choice yesterday as the city hosted two Biggest Morning Teas.

Big W’s Chris Smith said they had a couple of volunteers helping them out after the new store manager, John Lambert, encouraged her to host the fundraiser for cancer research..

“Nola Carney and Helen Bergman have been volunteering to work at the stall for a number of years,” Chris said.

“Last year the girls said they would stop and John asked if we were doing a morning tea,” she said.

“I thought we had better do it. Then we all rallied around to organise it.

“We had lots of different people helping us, as well as a lot of donations.

“We have some volunteers who made lots of goodies - nothing was too much effort for our volunteers.”

Chris said she and Big W thanked the public for attending and helping out.

Meanwhile, over at the BDT, advertising representative Samantha Matten hosted a her second morning tea in as many years and raised $400.

“I would have liked it to be a bit busier, but every dollar counts,” Samantha said

“I would like to thank everybody for baking and helping me. I hope everyone enjoyed it.

“Most people went out of their way to come in and buy stuff. We had one tray left over - everything else went before 1pm,” she said.
