Elderly woman injured in party brawl

An elderly woman is in with serious head injuries she sustained while trying to break up a drunken brawl yesterday morning.
Police were called to an out of control party at the North Mine Hall in Lane Street at 1am yesterday morning, where more than 80 people were drunk.
Upon arriving at the scene, they found an elderly woman with injuries to her head, allegedly from trying to break up a fight.
While officers attempted to get her into an ambulance, another brawl ignited between 20 youths took place around the injured woman.
“Eventually they were able to get her out to an ambulance,” a police spokesperson said.
A 27-year-old woman was arrested and later charged with assaulting police and resisting arrest.
The spokesperson said it was a timely reminder to ensure party’s where organised properly.
“The main downside of advertising parties on Facebook is you have no control over who sees the invite,” he said.
“If you are organising a party, the police do have information packs for you to ensure safety and make sure it doesn’t generate into a mass brawl.”
