Local National Rugby League staff hosted a touch football day at Lamb Oval yesterday to continue the celebrations of NAIDOC Week.

NRL game development officer, Matt Kiddle said the day included fun games and activities for children.

“We played touch footy with the kids and had games with the tackling bags,” he said.

“We also had some other rugby league games.”

Mr Kiddle said there was a really good turnout for the day.

“I was hoping for some more seniors,” he said.

“But it was just a come and try day.”

The children all seemed to be enjoying themselves, Mr Kiddle said.

“Most of the children haven’t played or seen a game of Rugby League before,” he said.

“They all seemed to be enjoying themselves. It was a great day and the weather was great as well.

“Hopefully, it will stay like this for the Family Fun Day in Sturt Park.”

There will be more NAIDOC Week activities today at Sturt Park. The family fun day will start from 10am and run until 3pm.

There will be music, dance, traditional food, art, activities, jumping castle, stalls from different organisations, face painting, karaoke, merry-go-round and lots more. Transport is available. Call 8088 0002 for more information.
