A local breast feeding support group has started up again after four years.
Local breast feeding women can now meet in a comfortable environment to support each other following the reformation of the Breast Feeding Support Group.
“The establishment of the group will provide much needed support for breast feeding women in our community,” said Child and Family Health Clinical Nurse Specialist, Donna Gers.
The Breast Feeding Support Group is being held at TAFE Playhouse in Argent St, every second Thursday at 10am until noon. All breast feeding mothers and supporters welcome.
Mrs Gers said the venue is great for women with children.
“The venue for the support group provides a casual and friendly atmosphere.
“It’s a nice welcoming environment that is cosy and friendly,” she said.
“We have developed a partnership with local TAFE and would like to thank them for their support.”
The Breast Feeding Support Group is being led by trained community mentors who can provide support for breast feeding mothers.
“We are providing support for Breast Feeding mothers - it’s not a formal session,” Mrs Gers said.
“It’s just to support other like-minded people.”
General support will also be given by local health staff and the Australian Breast Feeding Association.
