The Broken Hill Mountain Bike Club hopes the Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine can help turn a movie fundraiser this weekend into a real howler.

The club will be holding a movie fundraiser at the Silver City Cinema tomorrow at 8.15pm to help with the upkeep of their tracks and add much-needed funds to the kitty.

“The money goes towards nothing in particular just signage and the upkeep of our tracks,” track technician and spokesperson David Goodman said.

“Most of our tracks are done by our members who work for nothing.”

Director James Mangold’s action-packed superhero sees Wolverine - played by Aussie Hugh Jackman - lured back to Japan to face an old foe and confront his inner demons.

The film has a rating of 6.7/10 on Internet Movie Database (IMDB) and a 38 per cent ‘rotten’ rating on film review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

The Club now has a membership base of about 40 people which has fallen as a number of key cyclists ride out of Broken Hill.

“We’ve got that good core of members which we’ve had for the last 15 odd years the Mountain Bike Club has been going.

“And like most clubs, we’re very kid-friendly.”

The movie was recommended by movie man John Wren, who Mr Goodman heaped praise upon.
