School of the Air students came in to town for a week of activities - starting with their athletics carnival.

Principal of the school, Steve Eason said the day went really well.

“Students have come in from their properties for four days of activities,” Mr Eason said.

“They catch up as a school twice a year. But they do have excursions in their class groups.”

Mr Eason said while the day was “chilly” - the students warmed up quickly.

“We did some warm up activities in the morning,” he said.

“The parents came in and helped as well.”

The school also had a “Most Outrageous Car Competition”, where the cars were decorated.

Mr Eason said participation was high.

“All the students got involved and they helped each other out,” he said.

“Students also cheered each other on.”

The Basden house won the carnival.

“Sam Jackson was awarded junior boy champion, junior girl champion went to Lucy Gale and Abigail Jarrett,” Mr Eason said.

“Senior girl champion went to Hannah Kawenga and senior boy champion was Sean Holgate.”
