South coach Peter Johns said the side is just thinking “week to week” after pummelling West by 68-points at Alma Oval on Saturday.
The Roos triumphed over the deflated third-placed Robins after a nail-biting first quarter in which the two sides sat neck and neck.
South upped the ante and powered to a 20-point lead at half time and held the lead right up until the start of the final quarter.
The Roos then scored seven goals and left the opposition goalless in the final quarter, storming to a commanding 68-point victory.
Johns said despite being “pleased” with the win, his side wasn’t getting ahead of themselves as far as finals chances are concerned.
“I was happy with our win against West even thought it was a bit scrappy up to the third quarter,” Johns said.
“We are just taking it week by week and I’m not looking at finals yet.”
The victory takes the Roos to 10 wins and five losses, with West trailing on six wins and nine losses.
Cody Schorn kicked an impressive four goals to be named one of the best on ground for South while Michael Westley and Mitchell Henderson both scored three.
Luke Lines and Riley Schorn also scored two goals apiece.
Darren Zanette and Daniel Milne both kicked two goals for West.
South: 3.3 (21), 7.6 (48), 12.8 (80), 19.11 (125).
West: 3.3 (21), 4.4 (28), 8.8 (56), 8.9 (57).
