The rain in the early hours of yesterday morning has cleared and we probably won’t see any more until the weekend.

Sky News Weather’s Senior Meteorologist Dick Whittaker said six millimetres of rain fell between Sunday and Monday to 9am.

Mr Whittaker said the rest of the week should be fine and sunny.

“Today will see the weather reach a top of 21 degrees and Wednesday will be 22 and Thursday will be 20,” he said.

“Friday will be mostly sunny with a top of 25 degrees and north-west winds.”

But Mr Whittaker said some more rain could be expected on Saturday morning before clearing.

The rain yesterday morning was the first big rain of the month.

“There were some light falls on the August 4 and 7 but they were less than a millimetre,” Mr Whittaker said.

“In July the rainfall received was 15.4 millimetres, so it wasn’t a lot.”

Mr Whittaker said August wasn’t usually a particularly wet month.

“The average rainfall is 17.8 millimetres and now you can start to expect warmer conditions as August goes on.”
