A handful of locals will be travelling to Mildura this weekend to compete in the Annual Shuff’s Cup.
The 2013 Shuff’s Cup is being hosted by the North West Victorian Motorcycle Club this Saturday.
The event is a dirt track charity event, which includes Pee Wees, Junior and Senior solos, Sidecars and Quads events.
The cup attracts riders from different states to compete in what’s described as memorable, fun and competitive meet.
Senior solo riders are able to enter in their classes as well as enter into the Shuff’s Cup.
The Shuff’s Cup - the feature race of the night - is a team’s race where one rider rides for 10 laps, then riders change with their teammates, and they continue for another 10 laps.
The general format of classes will be ran prior to the Shuff’s Cup.
There are three local riders participating: Seth Williams, Logan Coombe and Ripley Rowbotham.
Last year, Logan competed in the Shuff’s Cup and came a very close second.
“Last year, there were a lot of top riders competing from all over Australia,” Logan said.
“This year I will enter into the short circuit and flat track events.”
Logan said he has been practicing weekly for the event.
“I’m also heading up for the State Titles in Adelaide in three weeks,” he said.
“All the events are good practice.”
He said that dirt track racing is growing.
“We have it at the Speedway with the Motocross Mayhem, it is something that is growing each event,” Logan said.
He said he would like to thank Morgo Carpentry, Rob’s Dirt Bike Repairs and Henderson Earthworks for working on his bike.
The Shuff’s Cup will have registrations and scrutineering from 10.30am to 12pm with racing starting from 1pm.
The event is being held at Jamberoo Park outside of Mildura.
All entries will be taken on the day.
One day licences will be available.
