The RSPCA’s Annual Cupcake Day was a “barking” success.
The fundraiser saw cakes and cupcakes sold at the RSPCA shelter and Centro Westside.
Volunteers Denzil Charnock and Frank Sheehan spent the day manning the stall at the RSPCA.
Frank said lots of local businesses helped support the cause by ordering cupcakes.
“The police station and fire brigade were wonderful, along with the Barrier Daily Truth,” he said.
“There were a number of small businesses who donated as well. The mining companies placed pre-orders. Everyone has been very supportive.”
Frank said the donations of cupcakes and baked goods was “fantastic, as always”.
RSPCA Animal attendant Cheryl Backhouse said that the proceeds help to provide food, improve the shelter’s facilities and make the animals and boarders more comfortable and happy.
The RSPCA receives less than three per cent of its funding from government so fundraisers like Cupcake Day were vital, Cheryl said.
“It really does help us buy all the things we need,” she said.
