Anxiety gives away $30k cannabis stash
Wednesday, 21st August, 2013
A Queensland motorist who was pulled over by police on the Adelaide road was shaking so violently that they suspected something was up.
When they asked him why he appeared so nervous, he allegedly replied: “I suffer from that anxiety thing.”
But they had also noticed a strong smell of cannabis so they searched his station wagon and found a suitcase on the back seat filled with a bag of it.
The driver, Brenton John O’Sullivan, is then alleged to have said to them: “There’s two more bags in the doona.”
After they had found that on the floor, Mr O’Sullivan had another suggestion.
“You should probably unroll the swag,” he said.
All up, police recovered just under five kilos of the drug that they claimed was worth about $30,000, along with $759 in cash.
That was on May 16 and Mr O’Sullivan (40) has been in custody ever since.
He has not applied for bail and nor did he yesterday when he pleaded guilty in the Local Court to supplying a prohibited drug and dealing with the proceeds of crime.
He will be sentenced on September 17.
