Zac Everuss and Luke Hall recently took out the junior 8-ball championships.
Last weekend, the Broken Hill 8-Ball Association hosted its junior competition.
Organiser Richard Hall said nine youngsters entered the competition.
“We had a really good turnout, considering last year we only had two kids enter,” Mr Hall said.
“Kids between 7 to 13 years of age were able to compete.”
Seven boys and two girls competed.
“Only one had played in a competition before,” he said.
The children were split into two round robin groups.
“The top two from each group went through to play,” Mr Hall said.
“We had Zac Everuss and Liam Rowe in one semi-final and Callab Everuss and Luke Hall in the second semi-final.”
Mr Hall said the children’s behaviour on the day was fantastic.
“The sportsmanship was fantastic, the majority of the kids called their own fowls,” he said.
“They applauded their opponents - they were well-behaved and respectful.
“It was excellent.”
Mr Hall said he was very happy with the interest in the junior competition.
“We had an A grade team come down to umpire and cook a barbecue for the kids,” he said.
He said even though some of the children didn’t have a lot of experience, they still played some great shots.
“It was an awesome turnout,” he said.
“We do a coaching day on the last Sunday of every month for the juniors.
“We would love to see more kids attend and we can try and do other events.”
