Local Reilly Blight will be participating in the Royal Adelaide Show horse competition.

Reilly has been riding horses for more than seven years and has recently competed in agriculture shows to qualify for the Adelaide Show.

“I had to try and get as many wins in whatever class I could,” she said.

“I qualified for the Hack class and Rider (Equestrian) class.”

Reilly said she got into competing through Maureen Rogers, who encouraged her to compete.

The Royal Adelaide Show will run from September 6 to 14.

“I will compete on a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday - it will be a big four days of competition but I’m used to it,” Reilly said.

Accompanying Reilly will be 12-year-old gelding, Ray Nick Illusions.

“He is a really good horse, we are best friends,” she said.

“I have been riding him for two years - hopefully I win.

“I am very excited. Another local Britt Anderson will be competing as well but we are in different categories.”

Reilly said her parents have given her lots of support.
