The Democratic Club has donated two electric patient chairs worth over $4,300 to the local Health Service.

The new chairs would be used at the Ophthalmology Clinic, where patients have their eyes examined.

The chairs are an upgrade on the existing ones, which were not ideal.

“The existing chairs were not easily adjusted and presented a risk of injury to both the patient and doctor, as the chair needs to be adjusted to meet patient and operator’s varying heights,” said Nurse Unit Manager Specialist Clinic Kathryn Morrison.

“The new electric chairs are more comfortable for the patient and have a foot pedal that makes it easier for the operator to adjust.”

Ms Morrison said the electric chairs are a welcome addition to the clinic rooms and have addressed the issues of patient and health worker safety.

“Once again we cannot thank the Broken Hill Democratic Club enough for their generous donation of $8,732.”
