Four local boys will be travelling to Sydney to compete in the NSW State Relay Championships.

Burke Ward Public School students, Joshua Niarros, Nicholas Schofield, Daniel Ryan and Jackson Savage, will be competing in the State Carnival.

The boys have competed and been successful in their school carnival, PSSA and combined Barrier Carnival; which included the Murray Darling district.

They now have the great opportunity to compete against the best in NSW, according to mother Kellie Niarros.

Kellie has been helping to train the boys.

“They will be competing in the junior 4x100 relay and Jackson will also compete in the eight years 100 metres,” she said.

“They will be running at Sydney Olympic Park at Homebush, October 16 and 17.”

She said the boys have been training hard.

“None of the boys have ran on a proper rubber track or in a stadium of that size,” Kellie said.

“They have limitations but this hasn’t deterred their commitment to training every second and third day.

“The boys have been coming throughout the school holidays to practise.

“They have been doing everything they can and have been doing everything we ask.”

Kellie said they have had a great response to fundraising.

“Local businesses have been great chipping in to make the trip less costly,” she said.

“BH businesses have always rallied around and supported children in sports.”
