The North Bowling Club is holding a tournament for beginners with a prize of  $1000.

Organiser Wayne Williams said the club wanted to spur on lawn bowls in Broken Hill and find new blood.

“It is the Coughlan Drilling Men’s New Bowlers Triple Classic,” Mr Williams said

“Thanks to Ned and Trish Coughlan, we are able to offer $1000 in prizemoney.”

The event is being held on Sunday, November 10.

“Each team will consist of two new bowlers and an experienced bowler,” Mr Williams said.

“Nominate as a team, a pair or a single bowler.

“It is an all day event and there will be four games of bowls.”

Nominations cost $15 per player and will close on November 5.

“There is no uniform, players can be as casual as they like - they can even wear thongs,” Mr Williams said.

“The day will start at 8.45am and a light lunch will be included. The Club is fully licensed and drinks will be for sale.”

Mr Williams said players can come and practise on a Tuesday or Saturday from 1pm to 5pm or Wednesday from 6.45pm.

“We have bowls available for people to use,” he said.

“We would like to see as many people as possible, guys who have never played, mates or sporting groups.”

Mr Williams said the day was set to be a great one.

“It will be a big day, so come out and have some fun.”
