Nice drop of rain

Broken Hill got a nice drop of rain yesterday. According to the Bureau of Meteorology, 24 millimetres were recorded here to 9am while White Cliffs and Wilcannia received 22mm and 12mm respectively.
Travis Nadge, from Country Water, said the rain filled Umberumberka Reservoir with 3,100 megalitres. Umberumberka contained 4000 megalitres before the clouds opened in the early hours yesterday.
"Umberumberka was almost full and the level was sitting 50cm below the spill way," said Mr Nadge. He said Stephens Creek took in 500 megalitres but the majority rainfall was at Silverton. The BoM said that a high pressure system near New Zealand was extending a ridge to the NSW coast,
while a trough in the State's west was linked to a low over inland Queensland. This pattern was slow moving and generating heavy showers across broad areas of NSW, the Bureau said.
Rain is expected mainly in the western inland over the next day or two as the trough moves slowly eastward. There is still a risk of flooding in some parts of the state north of Cobar, east of Bourke and west of Walgett. Flood Warnings are current for the Darling, Paroo and Warrego rivers.
