This morning a Pink Breakfast will be served to raise money and help women fighting cancer.
The Far West Community Legal Centre with the help of Breast Cancer Network Australia’s Local Community Liaison, Kerri Baker, organised the event.
The breakfast will be held from 8am to 10am at the FWCLC. There will be pancakes, strawberries, yogurt, pink merchandise for sale and activities for children.
Kerri said as October was breast cancer awareness month it was a good time to host a fundraiser.
They are hoping to raise money to have funds available for women need a prosthesis.
“The funds will be given to the local Breast Cancer support group,” Kerri said.
“When women buy prostheses they can get a Medicare rebate but they have to pay for them up front.
“After all your medical expenses, you don’t always have money for them.
“With these funds we can give women the money they need and the money from the rebate can be used for the next woman who needs them.”
Kerri said the breakfast was not just for breast cancer awareness but all cancers that women faced.
“It’s to raise awareness for ovarian, breast and cervical cancer,” she said.
“It is important to raise awareness. I would really encourage people to come out and support this breakfast.”
Meanwhile, Aura Clinic and Spa have also been busy supporting the Pink Ribbon cause.
Ten per cent of all make up sales throughout October have gone towards the initiative, pink ribbon decals have been added to nails for a donation of $5, and special pink Pryority lip gloss was created with $10 from each one sold going towards the cause.
