Pageant day approaches
Thursday, 7th November, 2013
Santa Claus is coming to town and everyone is being invited to give him a warm welcome by taking part in the 2013 Christmas Pageant.
Preparations for the December 7 event are well underway, with community groups, schools and businesses once again being asked to take part in the parade.
South Rotary’s Pageant Co-ordinators, Bill Parker and John Rouse, said the club have received five float nominations so far.
“With just over 40 floats entered into last year’s pageant we are aiming to surpass that number this year,” Mr Parker said.
“I encourage businesses and community groups to get their nominations in before the closing date of November 22.”
Following the pageant, the festivities will move to Sturt Park where everyone will be able to enjoy food and family fun at the After Party.
City Council’s General Manager, Therese Manns, encouraged the community to get involved by running a stall.
“This may include food stalls, jumping castle and novelty ride operators as well as community groups who may wish to set up a stall as a fundraiser for their club or group,” Ms Manns said.
South Rotary’s Geoff Cullenward said both the club and City Council were hoping for a good turnout again and encouraged people to get involved in the After Party.
“We’re hoping for a wide range of food stalls to cater for all sections of the community as well as those selling novelty items,” Mr Cullenward said.
Anyone interested in supporting the Christmas Pageant and After Party in Sturt Park through sponsorship is asked to contact Council’s Governance Department.
Interested stall holder and pageant participants are asked to complete the form on Council’s website, www.brokenhill.nsw.gov.au or contact Council’s Governance Department on 8080 3300. Forms are also available from Council’s Administration Centre in Blende Street.
