Local female Councillors have come together to host a fundraiser tomorrow night for a YWCA delegate attending the United Nations next year.
Caeron Anderson is going to New York to represent Broken Hill and the local YWCA branch at the 58th session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations.
Now councillors Darriea Turley, Marion Browne and Christine Adams have decided to put on a fun, relaxed evening to help Ms Anderson.
“We are inviting the community to attend our ‘soiree’ at the Railway and Historical Museum,” Clr Turley said.
Tickets are available for $25 and can be purchased at the museum.
The evening starts at 5.30pm and runs until 7pm “so you will have lots of time to attend other events,” Deputy Mayor Browne said.
The councillors will be doing all the catering themselves.
“We are the three musketeers and to keep costs low will be doing the catering,” Clr Turley said.
“All the money raised will go towards Caeron.”
Ms Anderson thanked the councillors for helping her.
“It is very thoughtful of them and I am very grateful,” she said.
“I would like to thank Darriea personally because she has helped me to get organised, as she attended the UN Conference herself.
“Darriea has been able to tell me what to expect.”
All tickets need to be purchased by 2pm today.
