A lot of groundwork goes into staging the city’s biennial Agfair event.

Just ask Agfair committee vice-president, Terry Smith, who has been helping replace old pipework at the racecourse that has been “playing up”.

“There were occasions when they would flood the exhibitors’ tents,” Terry said, adding the committee had received more applications for exhibitions this year compared to 2012.

With the two-day event in May creeping up, the Agfair committee will hold a meeting today at Shannon Electrics at 5pm, and are looking for more volunteers.

“We are always looking for volunteers, the ones we have are hard-working; but we could always do with a few more,” Terry said.

“If it wasn’t for them, we would get nothing done.” For more information or to volunteer call Terry on 0427 919 408 or 8088 1844.
