Sidecar racer Rick Howse has made a triumphant return to his home track, taking out the King Of The Hill speedway event on Saturday night.

Howse and his partner Adam Commons dominated the field of racers, finishing first overall ahead of British riders Mark Cossar and Daz Whetstone, with locals Rick Stephens and Darcy Risstrom coming in third.

The event marked Howse’s first ride competitive in Broken Hill since suffering a broken leg over two years ago, and he was warmly welcomed back into the fray by all in attendance.

“It was good, the crowd was really good, and the bike went well and we gated well,” he said.

Meanwhile the Motocross event was dominated by Logan Coombe, with Cec Fraser finishing second and Troy Bennett in third place.
