The Broken Hill RSPCA is offering half priced adoptions till the end of the month for all cats and kittens.

Shelter Manager Merridy Wall said the animals typically bred in warmer months, but seemed to be going through an extended season this year.

Thirty five cats have recently been shipped from BH to Queensland to help cope with high numbers.

Kittens aged one year and under are being offered for $70, cats aged between 1-8 years are $50 and those eight and over are $25.

All adopted pets come desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped.

Ms Wall said that adopting a desexed cat helped reduce the number of unwanted animals and could offer a less time-consuming alternative to a dog.

“Cats can usually keep themselves amused,” she said.

“They are a versatile type of pet that can suit different families.”
