A fundraiser with attitude

The Toy Library has a busy couple of days coming up with a movie fundraiser and an open day.
The movie fundraiser will run on Saturday and Sunday, and the open day Monday.
“There will be two screenings of the movie Mr Peabody and Sherman,” said Toy Library co-ordinator Paigen Howarth.
“They will both be at 11am on Saturday and Sunday.”
Tickets cost $10 and are available from the Toy Library.
“The tickets can be used up until the Easter weekend and can also be used for the Lego movie or the Muppet movie,” Paigen said.
“A percentage of each ticket sale will go towards the Toy Library. We will also have door raffles on both days.”
Paigen said the movie days were always popular.
“The more people we get the better it is for our fundraiser. It is really good of the Silver City Cinema’s John Wren to help us with this fundraiser. John is always ready to help out.”
Each year, the Toy Library must raise $10,000 to stay open.
‘Mr Peabody and Sherman’ is a new American 3D computer-animated comic science fiction film based on the characters from the Peabody’s Improbable History segments of the 1960s cartoon ‘The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.
Mr Peabody is a talking dog and the smartest being in the world. As a pup, he never found an owner and so devoted his life to science, athletics and technological discoveries.
One day, Peabody finds an orphaned infant and adopts him under the name of Sherman. He educates Sherman by conducting him through adventures throughout history.
The Toy Library’s Open Day on Monday, March 31 is for the opening of its bike track. It will run from 10am to 2pm and there will be a sausage sizzle, face painting and a cake stall.
