After well over a century in Argent Street, Tembys Pharmacy is moving shop.
Tembys will close tomorrow and reopen at the GP Super Clinic in Thomas Street on Monday.
“We will be doing a big move over the weekend,” Pharmacist Jason Harvey said.
“Tembys Pharmacy has been in the same Argent Street location for more than 120 years.
“We believe it is the oldest business in Broken Hill to still be in its original location.”
The new store will have a slightly different name: ‘Tembys Day and Night Pharmacy’ and will be open 7 days per week with extended hours; Monday-Friday 8am to 9pm and Saturday-Sunday 9am to 4pm.
“It will be sad to move after being here for so long, but we have to look towards the future and this is a great opportunity for us,” Mr Harvey said.
“This is a good opportunity to be in a complex that has a great location.
“We are part of the Super clinic, we are near the hospital and there is another surgery down the road.
“Being part of the Super Clinic gives us the opportunity to work more closely with other health professionals and allows us to offer more services to the community.”
Mr Harvey said their customers had mixed feelings about the move.
“We get customers who are very excited and long-time Temby customers who are sad,” he said.
“We’d like to thank all of our loyal customers have been with us for so long.”
Mr Harvey said some new services will also be coming.
“We will be able to offer services we couldn’t previously.
“This move has been four years in the making. We looked at relocating to a house around this area.
“We were getting organised, then the Super Clinic was announced.”
Mr Harvey said he looked forward to seeing all the pharmacy’s regular customers.
“We thank our customers for supporting us and hope most will follow us here, but we understand if they can’t.”
