Broken Hill will get more rain today before it rapidly clears tomorrow, according to a local meteorologist.
Bureau of Meteorology Co-operative observer Philip Mew said that the city received 17.6 millimetres of rain up until 5pm yesterday.
“This is going to continue for a little longer,” he said.
“Over the next 24 hours we should get further rain but on Friday it will start to clear very quickly.”
Mr Mew said that a “moisture-bearing cloud” was over central South Australia and moving towards the Broken Hill region.
“The rain probably won’t be as intense as what we got (yesterday),” he said.
“This rain is not unusual for a transition period between summer and winter.”
“Now that the temperature is dropping it feels a lot like winter weather.
“This is really setting the scene for good rainfall in winter.”
Last week the city received 36.2mm in steady downpours.
