A brazen thief ruined a local cake maker’s Easter after running off with her handbag on Good Friday.

Aurelia Slater was dropping off a cake to a customer in Zebina Street at about 7.45pm on Friday.

She parked in the woman’s driveway, before getting the cake out of the boot.

“It was a big heavy box with the cake in it so I couldn’t shut the boot,” Ms Slater said.

“I had forgotten that my bag was in the boot and thought I’d be quick so didn’t put the box down to shut it.”

The grandmother was in the customer’s house for just 15 minutes.

But it was long enough for an opportunistic thief to snatch her bag from the boot of her car.

“It happened pretty quick ... when I came back out to put the boot down, my bag was gone,” Ms Slater said.

“It had all my paperwork, bank papers, little diaries marking everything that happens with my grandkids and two notebooks in it.

“You could say my life was inside that bag.”

There was also over $100 in cash, but Ms Slater said that if she could be reunited with her paperwork and the sim card from her mobile phone she’d be more than happy.

“There’s letters in my bag with my address on it or if they could drop it to the police or over the fence of the house where they stole it from,” she said.

Ms Slater is also offering a reward to anyone who finds the paperwork, if it had been dumped somewhere in town.

She can be contacted on 8087 3963.
