Courthouse tours on today
Friday, 16th May, 2014
Staff at the Broken Hill Courthouse will be offering everyone tours of the historic building today.
The courthouse has been associated with the provision of law and justice since 1890, and if its walls could talk, it would have many fascinating stories to tell.
Local schools have been invited to bring their students to the open day, which promises to have something for all ages - including a free sausage sizzle.
On hand to answer questions will be representatives of the Local Court, the Far West Community Legal Centre, police, Corrective Services, NSW Trustee and Guardian and local solicitors.
The police will also have a high patrol car on display and Corrective Services will bring along one of their prisoner transport vehicles for everyone to inspect.
The open day on the front lawn starts at 10am and goes until 2pm.
The event is taking place as part of National Law Week, an annual event aimed at increasing awareness of the law and improving access to legal services.
