Mick and Dana Farcich have had their hard work recognised when their recently updated, boutique hotel featured on the front of a prestigious magazine this week.

The couple have ran the Argent Street hotel for 25 years, but it was only two years ago that it became part of the Accor Franchise network in a bid to become part of a “global brand”.

Following extensive renovations and the opening of the restaurant, S-Que, the four-star hotel was welcomed into the Accor group.

Accor features a wide portfolio of brands ranging from three star economy to five star.

Its hotels are featured within a quarterly magazine, which is distributed across the world.

When the Autumn edition arrived in the Farcich’s mailbox yesterday, they were surprised to see their hotel had made the front cover.

“It’s great to see Broken Hill is being recognised in this field. It’s very impressive,” Mick said.

“We spent a lot of money and put in a lot of work so it’s excellent to have this recognition.”

The couple leased the hotel up until 2007, when they bought it and were able to make the changes they had always dreamt of.

“The restaurant is doing really well, we’ve got a great new chef, Greg Ross, who has worked in London,” Dana said.

“He works alongside Tammy Ali. We have just launched our winter menu with some great feedback from our in house guests. 

“It’s become a real boutique hotel, which was always our dream.”
