Five days might have passed but members of the Parntu Warriors Rugby League club are still on cloud nine.
The club recorded an upset 46-26 victory over league leaders the Boomerangs in round five of the Outback Rugby League last weekend.
The Boomerangs were unbeaten heading into the match but were brought crashing back to earth by the Warriors on Saturday.
Parntu Warriors President Rhonda Hynch said she couldn’t fault any player in the team.
“The whole team really pulled together as one and I couldn’t be prouder of how we went,” she said yesterday.
The club’s vice-president Grant Hynch said the Warriors new-found defensive resolve was the key to victory.
“We worked really hard at training on our defence and strategy. We were conceding too many points,” he said.
“They (Boomerangs) couldn’t go around us and they weren’t busting through the middle.”
Warriors’ Warpla Thompson was voted man of the match but a fresh face also caught the eye of the board members.
“We had the services of a new player, Clinton Hall, who travelled from Dubbo to play his first game,” Mr Hynch said.
“He’s definitely keen and we’re lucky to have him on board.”
Following the upset, the Eagles remain the only undefeated team after their four-point win over Geebungs.
