Cinema owner John Wren's enthusiasm for the Silver City remains unbridled as he continues upgrading his business "for the people of Broken Hill."

Two hundred new high quality seats arrived at the cinema on Wednesday as part of an ongoing $250,000 facelift that has already seen 260 new chairs and all new carpet installed.

The improvements have been done over the past 18 months, and come on top of a complete sound and video overhaul around two years ago.

Mr Wren said the upgrades were undertaken to ensure that Broken Hill had a cinema to rival those in the bigger cities.

"We just thought while we had the opportunity we'd just go for it," said Mr Wren.

"It's benefiting the citizens of Broken Hill to keep everything updated, and that's who we're doing it for.

"I'm confident in this city and this investment just lets people know that we're here to stay."
