Bloody end to alleged assault
Saturday, 13th September, 2014
A man faced the Local Court yesterday charged with reckless wounding after allegedly hitting another man with a piece of wood.
Jamie John Wilks (38) and a 60 year-old man had argued at an Argent Street residence at around 4.30pm Thursday before the alleged assault took place.
The victim suffered head injuries and walked from the premises to the footpath outside the court house, before being conveyed to Hospital for treatment.
Mr Wilks was arrested shortly after the incident, and did not enter plea when he faced court yesterday.
He was refused bail, and Magistrate Les Mabbutt ordered that Wilks undergo a mental health and alcohol abuse review before he faces court again next month.
Meanwhile yesterday a search warrant was executed on a Williams Lane residence after a woman was allegedly threatened with a replica firearm at around 4.30am.
Police executed the search warrant during which time a number of items including a replica handgun were seized.
A 33 year-old man was arrested and charged with assault, as well as firearms, Weapons Prohibition Act and drug offences.
He has been bailed to appear before the Broken Hill Local Court on September 30.
