Association is hoping to establish a junior and men's competitions to help draw people back to the sport.

The main women's competition had six teams last season, with a number of women's AFL sides fielding sides.

But it appears that number is on the slide.

"We only have four teams at the moment and only two have full sides," secretary and publicity officer Jaimee Ryan said.

"Unfortunately it seems to drop off each year. I remember ten years ago when we had games going basically all night on a Wednesday, but at the moment we've just got the two.

"So we're on the lookout for more players, whether that's as individuals or people looking to enter a team."

The association is planning to establish junior t-ball and 'mod ball' tournaments to encourage participation at a younger level from Under 14s down to five-year-olds.

"We'll be sending letters out to schools soon and hopefully get some kids involved," Ms Ryan said.

A men's competition is also in the pipeline, with footy clubs again the target in their off-season.

The competition tees off at the Jubilee oval on Wednesday, October 8 but players are welcome to join at any time.
