The Broken Hill Netball Association is introducing a 'Fast Fives' concept to spice up the mixed competition.

The modified version sees only five players on the court, creating a fast-paced game.

Taking a lead from basketball, shots from further out attract more points.

A second goal circle is painted on the court denoting the two point line, with the third outside the goal circle known as the 'super shot' zone.

Shots from this area attract three points.

"It's always been a fun comp but this year we're bumping up the fun level another notch," said BHNA Publicity Officer Heidi Drenkhahn.

"This is a popular comp with the girls enjoying the increased speed and physicality of the mixed game and the guys enjoying some post-footy fun and fitness."

Teams are allowed unlimited interchange at any point during the game and the games are played over a shorter time.

Teams play two thirty minute games each week.

Teams of up to 10 players can nominate, but must comprise of at least two males, with a maximum of two males to be on the court at any one time.

Registration is now open for the competition.

Nomination forms are available at HelloWorld in Argent St or the committee can be contacted via the Broken Hill Netball Association Facebook page.

Team nominations are due by September 27.

Fees are $15 for current BHNA members and $75 for non members.

The competition starts Wednesday, October 8 and runs for eight weeks.
