Bail refused after alleged assault
Wednesday, 10th December, 2014
A 33-year-old man charged with using a loaded rifle to threaten another man in Williams Lane has been refused bail.
In the Local Court yesterday Adam Hojeij pleaded guilty to possessing the .22 calibre rifle but not guilty to the charges of assaulting the 20-year-old man and carrying a firearm in a manner likely to injure a person.
The incident was alleged to have taken place on the morning of November 10 but was not reported by the alleged victim until last week.
Hojeij had previously pleaded guilty to possessing a loaded, unregistered .22 rifle after police caught him sitting in a car in the driveway of a house in Brookfield Avenue about 12.15am on November 11.
On that occasion, police used pepper spray on him when he refused to get out of the vehicle and then tried to drive off.
He was freed on $5000 bail when he faced court the same day, but yesterday bail was refused. Hojeij will next appear in court on January 20.
