An activity for children on Friday nights has been an overwhelming success, according to organisers.

The PCYC held its last “Freestylin Friday” for the year, last week.

The event is a free Friday night program for kids aged 10 to 17.

“We offer free, fun and safe activities for kids plus cook up a free dinner and drinks for everyone,” club manager Rowena Marks said.

“It runs from 6pm to 8pm every Friday night during school term and is fully supervised with staff and volunteers, plus we have a strong police involvement now, it’s great to see.”

This has been running for four terms now and the success has been overwhelming, Mrs Marks said.

“We have up to 45 kids each Friday night and always have a blast,” she said.

“We have a great bunch of kids from all areas of town that come along and thanks the Democratic Club; we have a free bus service that drops kids home,” she said.

“It is a brilliant program and I encourage anyone out there who is interested in volunteering to contact me.”
