The BDT Christmas Appeal finished over the weekend with organisers describing  it as the best they had seen.

The appeal has been running for a number of weeks and finished on Saturday. Yesterday Lifeline came over to pick up all the toys.

BH Lifeline’s Fundraising Coordinator, Trevor Odgers, said it was great to see so much generosity.

“The quality and quantity of presents are terrific - locals have really supported the kids this year,” Mr Odgers said.

“We also received lots of toys from the Ulysses Toy Run.

“If we didn’t have appeals like this a lot of children would miss out.”

All the donations will be shared between Lifeline, Silver City Charities and the Salvation Army.

BDT Advertising Manager Peter Keenan said it was the most donations the BDT had ever received.

“I think this is the best one we have had - we are delighted with it,” Mr Keenan said.

“Previously, old toys have been donated but now people are bringing in brand new toys. It also benefits Broken Hill shopping.

“The generosity is incredible. Every year we seem to get more and more.”
