The sharp aim of junior darts star Chase Bottrell is set to take him to distant shores after he was selected in Australia’s World Cup team.

The 15-year-old recently represented South Australia in the Australian Junior Darts Championships in Ipswich, posting strong results and catching the eye of national selectors.

Chase registered the highest “checkout” of the competition, closing out a game with two triple-20s and a bullseye.

He also won the doubles with partner William Wilson from Adelaide, and reached the quarter finals in singles.

These results were accompanied by runner-up finishes in the teams and fours events, and a third place in the “youth masters” category.

“It was good, they were tough games,” said Chase.

“But everyone showed good sportsmanship and everyone got along.”

The games will only get tougher at the World Cup, which is set to be held in Turkey in October.

Chase said the event would be his first journey overseas and he was looking forward to taking on the world’s best.

He also thanked Richardson Shearing, the South Darts Association, his cousin Ray O’Donnell and his father Phil for all their help.
