Some of the city’s retirees settled in for the long haul yesterday at a combined marathon bingo session at Harold Williams Home.

Residents of Aruma Lodge, Harold Williams Home (HWH) and St Anne’s all took part in the big day of fun and games, with bingo running from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

The action was only broken for lunch which consisted of 25 pizzas from Domino’s.

HWH recreational activities officer Fiona Dart said all in attendance relished the chance to enjoy a game and a chat with old friends who they might not otherwise see.

“A few people have caught up, some old friendships have been rekindled,” said MS Dart.

“It’s just a good day for them to enjoy each other’s company and win a few prizes.”

The prizes ranged from toiletries and gifts right down to smaller items like chips and snacks.

Ms Dart thanked all the volunteers who came along to make the day such a success.
