Big journey for new students
Tuesday, 10th February, 2015
Kindergarten children embarked on their first day of school across the city yesterday, but it was no big deal for Railwaytown students.
Railwaytown’s kindergarten teacher, Jan Riley, said her KR class had settled into school life with a minimum of fuss.
“So far, so good. We’ve had some fruit, done our work, and we’ve got nearly everyone here. No dramas,” she said.
The first day of school can often be just as daunting for parents as it is for the children, but
Ms Riley said the parents had been equally stoic in the face of their little ones leaving to begin school.
“All the parents seemed fine, although a few were a little nervous.”
The BDT will visit each kindergarten in the coming week to capture shots of all the city’s newest students.
