Sisters Kiara and Kalyce Pressler represented the Silver City Swim Club with excellence at the Marion Swimming Club’s 2015 Fast 50s Sprint Competition in Adelaide.
Swimmers from sixteen South Australian clubs competed vigorously for points for their clubs as well as towards overall age-champion trophies.
Remarkably, with just two representatives, the Silver City Swim Club finished fourth in the overall female team point score, behind the strong Adelaide clubs of Marion, Norwood and Burnside.
Kalyce may have been the smallest competitor in her age-group, but was honoured with the overall trophy for 10 year old female champion.
Kalyce won both the butterfly and breaststroke events, finishing over four seconds clear of the next competitor in the 50m breaststroke. She additionally came third in the backstroke and freestyle races.
Kiara also excelled, placing third in the overall 13 years age-group. Kiara achieved second place in backstroke only 0.06 of a second from first, and third in butterfly a mere 0.01 of a second behind second place. Both Kalyce and Kiara attained gold level in the Australian Junior Excellence Program.
The Silver City Swim Club and its swimmers of all ages continue to shine and reach new heights. The club is the only gold level swimming club in Broken Hill as recognised by the national swimming authority, Swimming Australia.
It is a non-profit family friendly community organisation run entirely by dedicated volunteers, which also operates its own swimming pool and gym.
The club plans to install 200 solar panels which it purchased at a local auction in order to help reduce the escalating cost of heating its pool. To enable this, the Silver City Swim Club is conducting a treasure chest with the prize of $10,000 cash being drawn in April, and also coming up in August is a fabulous Cabaret with Australia’s No. 1 show band.
