When you’re constantly on the move as a truckie it can be hard to get your daily serves of fresh fruit and vegetables - unless you’re lucky enough to be pulling into the Little Topar roadhouse.

The dedicated team at the roadhouse have made a point of providing meals with fresh meat, veggies and salads to passing truckies, giving them a nutritious alternative to pre-made and processed food.

Now the truckies have shown their appreciation via social media by voting Little Topar into the top 10 on the “Worst and Best Truckstops in Australia” Facebook page.

The results were featured in the national Big Rigs newspaper, with Little Topar finishing third behind Hawkins Clairview (Qld) and Polo Flat Truckstop (Cooma).

Roadhouse owner Colin Harvey said he was deeply appreciative of the truckies’ support, and said it wouldn’t have been possible without his wife Barbara.

He said long-serving staff members Jeff and Peter Hendy also deserve plenty of recognition for their efforts.

“Barb deserves all the credit. We’ve been here 25 years and she keeps the place all very clean and cooks all the veg and tender meat and makes salads for all the truckies,” he said.

“And she taught us to cook as well. I couldn’t cook at all before.

“All the truckies have been coming in and congratulating us. It’s been very nice.”
