The YWCA is raffling a handmade quilt for its Mother’s Day fundraiser and to help two of their younger members.
YWCA board member, Jill Schinella, said the queen-sized quilt had been made by fellow member Lyndal Graham.
“It is a beautiful quilt and we are selling it to raise money for the YWCA,” Mrs Schinella said. “We do a raffle every Mother’s Day.
“This year it has been popular. Some members sold tickets at the IGA on Saturday. They sold a few tickets, which was pleasing.”
The tickets cost $1 each and are being sold at the Broken Hill Tile Centre, the BDT office, NES Complete Home, the YWCA office (between 9am - noon) and by YWCA board members.
“The money raised will go towards Chanelle Burrows and Siobahn Graham,” Mrs Schinella said.
Chanelle is one of the few lucky teens from around the world who has been selected to participate in this year’s NASA United Space School in the USA.
Siobahn is attending the 28th World YWCA Council in Bangkok.
“We have done some movie fundraisers for them, which has been well-received.
“We will also have a screening of Cinderella on Sunday at the Silver City Cinema. There will be nibbles available.”
Tickets are on sale at the cinema.
The raffle will be drawn on Saturday, May 9.
