Local hairdresser Caitie Hibberd recently won a hairdressing competition which will now see her show her work at a Hair Expo in the middle of the year.

Caitie recently submitted photos of her work to “Hair Shots 2 the World - Star Spot Opportunities 2015”.

“They were looking for regional hairdressers,” Caitie said. “I had to submit two photos of work I have done in the salon. Then I had to give 30 words on why I deserved to win.

“I submitted a photo of an up style I did and a colour.”

Caitie said she was judged by seven mentors.

“I was contacted on Wednesday to say I had been short-listed, then I was called on Wednesday night to say I had won.

“I found out my mentor will be Lorna Evans and I will be attending the Sydney Hair Expo in June.”

Caitie will take to the stage in the expo to help with hair styling.

“I also win all of Lorna’s DVDs and books to use in the salon,” she said.

“Having an experience like this is amazing.

“It just goes to show how good regional hairdressers are.”

Caitie thanked her colleagues at Tonic Hair Spa for their help.

“I couldn’t have done it without them and my mum, as she is a hairdresser. She has taught me all I know,” she said.

“I have never won a thing in my life, so to win something that is going to make me absolutely strive in my career and bring better knowledge and education (to the salon) makes me ecstatic.”
