The Visitor Information Centre (VIC) and Living Desert have received an award for excellence from a major travel website.

The City Council sites achieved a 2015 Certificate in Excellence from Trip Advisor after consistently receiving favourable reviews.

Council’s Culture and Heritage Curator Cathy Farry said the award was a great reflection of the visitor experience at both the VIC and Living Desert.

“It shows our staff are doing a wonderful job in promoting the city, and that the Living Desert is one of the region’s great attractions,” Ms Farry said.

“Importantly the award is recognised nationally and internationally.”

When selecting winners, Trip Advisor uses an algorithm that takes into account the quality and quantity of reviews and opinions submitted by travellers online over a 12-month period.

To qualify, a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months.

“By putting a spotlight on businesses that are focused on delivering great service to customers, TripAdvisor not only helps drive increasing hospitality standards around the world, but also gives businesses both large and small the ability to shine and stand out from the competition,” said Marc Charron President, TripAdvisor for Business.
