Kristy shows some bottle
Thursday, 2nd July, 2015
One local lady has taken it upon herself to stay on the wagon this month for a whole 31 days.
Kristy Tucker has signed up for “Dry July” and is hoping to raise $500 for cancer support.
“It came up on my news feed on Facebook and I thought it was a good excuse to do something different for charity,” Kristy said.
“I think it is a good idea. It is challenging and it will raise money.
It will also be the first time that Kristy has tried to give up her tipple.
“It will be interesting. I will have to find a different stress reliever.
“I’ve had one donation and I’m hoping for some more now it is July.
“I think raising $500 would be pretty admirable.
“The money raised will go to various charities that support adults living with cancer.”
Dry July is raising money for 42 cancer service organisations to improve the treatment and wellbeing of cancer patients.
Kristy said it shouldn’t be too hard and even her partner Tom might benefit from it.
“He will save a lot of money on taxis,” she said.
