Exhibition offers glimpse of region’s art talent

An exhibition of Aboriginal art from around the district is going on display to celebrate Aboriginal art and culture during 2015 NAIDOC week.

West Darling Arts is hosting the exhibition that in the Town Hall Facade which opens tonight. 

It showcases some of the wealth of Aboriginal art in the area including paintings, basket weaving, jewellery and woodwork.

“The works on display show the extent of talent we have in our region,” said Kathy Graham form West Darling Arts. 

Ms Graham said the show offered just a small sample of the work being done by artists from Ivanhoe, Wilcannia, Menindee, Wentworth and Broken Hill. 

The exhibition is entitled “We All Stand on Common Ground” which is the theme of this year’s NAIDOC week.

It opens at 6pm and light refreshments will be served.

The exhibition will continue until July 17.
