Tour agents see a place of us in USA

A group of visiting travel agents have soaked up the sights to help promote Broken Hill and district.
‘Down Under Answers’ is an American company that specialises in travel to the South Pacific.
Recently they and a number of other agents attended an Australian Tours Exchange, a workshop for travel agents, and visited locations around Australia.
Kim Faucette, from Down Under Answers, and six other travel agents spent two nights in the city.
They went to Silverton, had a look at the city’s art galleries, enjoyed dinner and a show at the Palace and learnt about local history.
On their time off they also had a look around the Royal Flying Doctor Base and a few more galleries. When they leave it will be on the Indian Pacific.
Kim said the agents will go back to the US and start promoting the region.
“It was the first time in the city for all of us,” she said.
“Irene Morgan, a representative for Destination NSW in Los Angeles, pushed us to come to Broken Hill to try it out.”
Kim said the city provided a “new outback experience”.
“Broken Hill has a great mix of arts, entertainment, life and history on the mining industry struggles.
“Things like Priscilla could put the city on the map. The city is something different and unexpected. It is warm and welcoming.”
Kim said the travel agents will be working hard to get the word out in the US.
“Broken Hill is a place you can come on a second or third visit to Australia, or if you don’t have the budget for Darwin and the top end.”
