Riding school in the city
Wednesday, 15th July, 2015
The Broken Hill Speedway/Motocross club will host the Yamaha Y-Aim Australian Institute of Motocross Riding School this weekend.
The school will be run by Shane Metcalfe on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 8am on both days.
“With only a few positions left, I suggest you don’t leave it until the last minute to nominate,” a club spokesman said.
“Shane is no stranger to Broken Hill and his courses cater for not only the beginner, but also the pro looking for that edge on the competition on race days,” he said.
The course teaches not only riding techniques, but also helps with the right nutrition and exercise for riding.
“Everyone who has done one of Shane’s courses in the past has gained a lot out of them,” the spokesman said.
“His knowledge of motocross is second to none and is great to tap into.”
Juniors are well catered for, covering the basics of motocross riding.
The course is ideal for those who maybe new to the sport or are new to the track as it provides plenty of practise out on the track.
“Shane’s experience will show through by giving you different lines to take and where to brake, accelerate ... as well as showing the best places to overtake your rivals on race day.
“Hopefully, everyone will get behind Shane as it is great for Motocross in Broken Hill that we can get people and courses of this calibre to the city.
“It will only help grow the sport locally to be as big as it once was.”
There won’t be any canteen facilities for the weekend, so pack a lunch and plenty of water for the two days.
Also the Speedway/Motocross Club is holding a membership day on Sunday at the Speedway clubrooms at the track, beginning at 11.30am. Cost is $40 single and $50 family.
See Steve Lihou on the day to renew or become a member, or if you have any questions.
